If you have tried latest OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 SampleApp V309 R2 (available here)
chances are you came across this error as well while turning on the
sample VM using Oracle VM VirtualBox. Looks like it is a common error and Oracle failed to document it in their deployment guide.
OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 SampleApp V309 R2: Error - Kernel Panic – not syncing: Fatal exception
To fix this go Settings of the VM in VirtualBox, then in System configuration change Chipset to ICH9 from PIIX3. Also, make sure that you have Enable I/O APIC checked in Extended Features. Settings shown below for reference.
Click OK and try starting the VM again. Mine come up fine as seen in below screenshot.

But due to lack of practice, I am finding it difficult to move forward. Can u point out some resources to overcome this difficulty. Also it would be great if you can tell me how to use thsi oracle VM. I am unable to find any documents
